Caryn Giananti

Caryn Giananti retired from her position as Senior Research Analyst in the Office of Institutional Research (OIRA) as of March 2021, after working 33 years in the University. Starting her CUNY career at Hunter in the Management Information Services (MIS) office, she has enjoyed working in OIRA since 1995 with a focus on annual state and internal reporting. Through this role she was introduced to COSDI in 2002 and never looked back. As she collaborated with the Council on data collection for reporting enrollment of CUNY students with disabilities, her profound interest was sparked in the Council’s work to provide equitable access to higher education for all who seek it and the broader picture of accessibility in society.

Caryn holds a BS in MIS from the CUNY Baccalaureate Program, an MS from the Graduate Program in Social Research at Hunter College, and an MA in Disability Studies from the School of Professional Studies. Retired just over a month, she is getting her house in order and looks forward to meaningful volunteer work in the not too distant future. Suggestions welcomed!

CCSD
CUNY Coalition for Students with Disabilities

The CUNY Coalition for Students with Disabilities (CCSD) is the biggest not-for-profit umbrella organization in the disability field at The City University of New York, organizing 19 student member organizations across 23 schools and colleges, and representing more than 9,000 students with disabilities. The majority of the member organizations are single student disability organizations engaged in activities on city and state levels and some are engaged on the national level. The highest body in CCSD is the full board, which is composed of two representatives from each member organization, representing the schools and colleges. The full board elects an executive committee with four members (one chairperson, one vice chairperson, one treasurer, and one secretary). CCSD has no formal mechanism for funding, and instead focuses on partnerships and collaborations to push its agendas forward.
